Since I take half of my showers at the gym, I needed an elegant solution to carry around my toiletries. And after a good 3 to 4 months of searching and indecision, I finally found a dopp kit that meets all of my requirements!

- leather, simple, cool-looking, quality, limited.

Made of natural leather, it’s durable. I like that, over time, it will take on markings and develop a personality in response to my use and abuse. I’m looking forward to it turning into a rich, honey color, reminiscent of the handles of vintage Louis Vuitton monogram canvas bags.

Overall, it’s dimensions are only 8.75 x 4 x 4 inches, but by having a tie-closure and longer internal ”catch” panels, the volume of stuff it can carry is expandable. You don’t get this feature with traditional dopp kits that use zippers.

Inspecting the construction, it’s pretty amazing how simple it is to make – three panels and three stringy strips of leather. No metal at all.

To get an idea of how much this thing holds, here’s some of the stuff that I carry in the dopp kit – deodorant, toner, face cleanser, lip stuff, serum, shave cream, moisturizer, comb, extra razor blades….quite a bit of of full-sized products.

Pretty cool, huh?

The dopp kit can be purchased at Context.

Recently, I went to the dentist for a routine cleaning, and had a much better experience than last year. It was almost pleasureable, and it can be attributed to my switch from Oral B to Philips Sonic Care (don’t I sound like an infomercial – ha!). The change in electrical toothbrushes was prompted when my dental hygienest mentioned that my gums were receding, probably from brushing too hard with my Oral B. It made sense since Oral B’s brush head is circular, which in motion then, would kind of ”brush away” gums. Or I just have bad form.

In any case, I picked up the Sonic Care Flexcare+ online and after 6 months of use, my gums are still here, and I had practically no build up. It’s a quality product. The brush heads are like a traditional toothbrush, and the model I got came with a UV-emitting container to kill off accumulated bacteria/germs on the brush head. I also liked the 3-minute timer (vs the 2-minute Oral-B model); it buzzed every 30 seconds, which was a nice cue to focus on different sets of teeth.

Anyways, I like it, so much so that I even joined their Facebook fan page.

I think I will start with the Toner and the Serum, since I’m running out of them (I currently use Khiel’s Men’s Alcohol Free Herbal Toner and Abyssine Serum). By the way, cool packaging.
