Gonpachi at Miyako Hybrid Hotel

September 5, 2010 Gourmet, Japan No Comments

After a good study session, went with Sooj and the kickboxer to get some soba. Wanting to try a new place, I suggested we go to Gonpachi, since they make their own soba. Having been to the Gonpachi in Tokyo, I had high expectations for this place. And though the modern decor was slick and good enough to be called a date place, I was really disappointed with the food. It wasn’t bad tasting; it just did not impress me…at all. I will give this place another try, but not for a while. Anyways…

AOC Wine Bar – Good Food, Crap Service.

August 15, 2010 Gourmet No Comments

Despite having one of the most unattentive and rudest waitresses in Los Angeles, I had a good time at AOC.

Too caught up in the conversations and deliciousness to take photos of everything. So these two photos will have to suffice.

We had:
roasted dates/parmesan/bacon (my favorite); peaches/burrata/cumin/almonds (salad); seabass/potato-gratin/tapenade; soft shell po’boy/cabbage slaw/paprika (pictured); hanger steak/roasted shallots/red wine butter; arroz negro with squid and saffron aioli (delicious); corn pudding/poblanos/queso fresco (pictured in back -YUM).

August 1, 2010 Gourmet, Japan No Comments

Sat at the lunch counter. It was cheap. Taste wise, it was eh … probably the same status as if I were to make this myself =)

… which is why I eat out 85-90% of my meals..

Father’s Office – The Fries

2 times in the same number of weeks. Always come  for the burger and fries. Gluttony. One of these days, I’ll try something new.

Great selection of beers, as well.  I’m a fan of the Alaskan White and the hefeweizen.

I like this place. My dish was tasty, and it was the right portion size.
