Celebrating at Animal – so effing good!

May 5, 2009 Events, Gourmet No Comments

On the eve of MF‘s birthday, a small group of us had a nice, intimate dinner at Animal, which I think is an awesome name for a restaurant. Opened not too long ago, the place has received a lot of press and hype… and it is all well-deserved….

I like how they update their menu from time to time to take advantage of the freshest products in season.

Unique Los Angeles: It was okay.

May 3, 2009 Events 1 Comment

This past Saturday, MF and I went to Unique Los Angeles at the California Market Center to check out what the local, independent design talent was cooking. Overall, it was okay. Most of the booths, like 98%, were catered towards women. There were a lot of jewelry and accessories being sold. Nevertheless, it was worth going to … to at least spend some time with MF.

Here are some highlights:

Camping at Leo Carillo State Park: Day 1 of 3

April 28, 2009 Events 4 Comments

This past weekend, a bunch of friends and I took a retreat to the Leo Carillo State Park in Malibu. I’ve been looking forward to this trip for a while now, and gosh, was it fun!

Here are some of the highlights from Day 1.

Our campsite was up a mini hill from the cars; it was pretty spacious, easily accommodating our 5 tents and 15 person-or-so party. Tip: the campground rules allow 8 people and only 3 cars per site [yes, we broke them and even had the rangers pay us a visit =X]. There is an overflow parking lot near the entrance, which is where I ended up moving my car. Overnight parking is $10 and gates are closed between 10pm and 7am.

Mike & Chris (NOT going out of business) Going Out Of Business Sale

March 28, 2009 Events, Fashion 1 Comment

This morning, a friend and I hit up the Mike & Chris Going Out of Business Sale at the POOLTRADESHOW. We got there about 30 minutes early and there were about 70 people or so ahead of us. So by the time we got in, the racks were ravaged and all the leather jackets (which was the reason why everyone came or continued to line up outside when we left) were accounted for. The jackets were selling for about 3bills (they usually retail for a grand). Note to self: next time, arrive at least 1 hour early. Regardless, I did manage to find a few decent pieces.

An ant colony made my car their new home =(

February 23, 2009 Events, Featured 3 Comments

Last weekend, we experienced a rare phenomena here in Southern California – it rained. Consequently, I didn’t feel like going out. To my chagrin, when it was time to get back to the daily grind of work, I found the door sill of my car blanketed with thousands and thousands of ants. And of course, that’s not all. There were EGGS! … Continue Reading
