EM just arrived from Paris. We caught up with each other’s lives over at the best oyster spot in hipster central Los Angeles, L&E Oyster Bar.
They had a great selection of oysters on the menu that night – about 10. We started with 2 of each…. yummmmm
We also had…
some fried oysters with sauce gribiche. this was my second favorite dish, behind the raw ones.
Grilled Oysters with wild mushrooms, caramelized shallots, dry sherry, beet breadcrumbs, and parmesan. These were okay.
and upon recommendation from our server, we tried the smoked PEI mussels, served with chorizo toast, meyer lemon zest, fried capers, arbequina olive oil. the toast made a weird pairing, but oh well. pretty good!
Among the big items, the seafood boudin noir looked the most interesting. It was basically a house-made sausage of spiny lobster, shrimp, cuddle fish ink, nueske’s bacon, and burre blanc. It was okay.
And because we were still a bit hungry, we got 6 more oysters, 2 for her, 4 for me!
It was a fun night. Cheers!
