MOCA – Red Rebel Closing Party

June 24, 2012 Art, Contemporary No Comments

Attended the closing party for James Franco’s Rebel show. It was overall good times.

Being a bit of a rebel myself.

Having seen the show a month prior, I was very curious to see the “extra layer” Franco and crew added to the exhibit. Also, the night before, I re-watched Rebel Without a Cause on DVD, which made this go round much more interesting.

About half way through the night, we went outside, where Franco spoke briefly about Red Rebel, the film project that documented the mayhem-rouge that went on.

So what exactly went on… well, there were masks, buckets and a seemingly endless supply of red paint, strap-on penises, glory holes, sex, lots of simulated sex with everything and each other. If you could get past the horror music soundtrack, it was actually pretty funny.

Afterwards, the band Superhumanoids performed. They were awesome. I have to catch them again in concert.

Finally, there was a lot of pretty people in attendance. That’s about it.

Cheers!
