The other day, I met up with a food blogger friend and her dental hygienist friend to try out the new, more casual iteration of Chef Shiro’s Orris restaurant on Sawtelle Boulevard.
Overall, I liked the food, particularly the uni pasta (I always order some version of this whenever I visit a Japanese spaghetti place). The noodles had a perfect firmness, and the whole thing was really flavorful.
I also tried a bit of other things, like the White Snapper Carpaccio, which was not my favorite. I found the onions and cilantro a bit too overpowering.
The Grilled Romaine with Parmesan Dressing was something new I’ve never had before. It was okay and kind of tasted like cabbage.
The Prosciutto Salad was a bit of a let down, in terms of look and flavor. It was a mixture of mini slices of prosciutto, some mixed greens, Parmesan cheese, and a balsamic vinaigrette.
The Shrimp Mousse Ravioli with Shiitake Mushroom Sauce was actually really good. Very rich.
