Spent Monday night at one of my favorite watering holes, trying out 4 newly created cocktails.
The first one we had was a beer (IPA) cocktail. It had a very grapefruit taste to it. One guy cleverly called it, Island Hops.
The second drink was an Hibiscus Sour. Pretty good and refreshing.
The third drink was temporarily named “Fight for Pedro” or “Fighting Pedro,” something like that. It included bitters, bourbon (supposed to be Fighting Cock), sherry (Pedro Ximenez), and mint. The hallmark of this cocktail is that it’s shaken, which apparently is against the mixologist rules for this combination of ingredients. I’ll take their word for it. But what really is certain, is that this was my favorite drink of the night. It was complex and still refreshing.
The last drink of the night, the guys were especially proud of – a cold Irish Coffee made with no water.
I recall that to get the coffee taste, they used actual coffee and cold-seeped it with Irish whiskey (Bushmills) for an extended time. This was a really impressive drink. My second favorite.
It was a great night. Cheers!
