Whole Foods – Shiitake Snacks

February 8, 2010 Gourmet, Living 2 Comments

While making my lunch salad at Whole Foods (they have a great salad bar by the way), I came across these..
Crunchy Shiitake mushrooms. I have no idea how they were prepared, but my guess is that they were first coated with soy sauce, deep fried, and then coated with salt and sugar. In any case, picked up a small box of them for the office. They were pretty tasty.

While strolling along the aisles, I ran across these. Just has a few. Not much taste to speak of, but definitely a long lasting and pungent after taste of mushroom. Must be deep fried – can’t find much info on them.

I’ve just came home from a 3 day trip from L.A. and I’ve discovered these delicious treats as well! Ralph’s on Rosecrans Blvd. had them too. I bought all 4 boxes and unfortunately they didn’t have anymore in stock.
Since I’ve been back I’ve been searching to find out how they’re made. There’s still nothing, anywhere.
So I was hoping you’ve found more info on them by now.
