Yard House: American cuisine not at its finest

May 4, 2009 Gourmet No Comments

The other night, had dinner at Yard House @ LA Live. It was my first (and probably last) time eating at this American chain. The service wasn’t so great and the food quality was pretty much whatevers. Oh, well. Before I totally bash this place, here are some pictures of some of the stuff that was served:

SPINACH CHEESE DIP baked with feta, jack cheese, parmesan and cream cheese served with crispy flat bread. Not so appetizing. I think we ate it because we were starving. Just looking at this you can understand why Americans are so obese.

I ordered the TOP SIRLOIN, 10oz cut with house steak sauce, garlic mashed potatoes, grilled tomato and portabella. Other than the lack of flavor, it actually wasn’t so bad. I mean, the stick indicating that it was cooked Medium was pretty cool.

JC and MF shared the BBQ PORK TENDERLOIN, served with grilled vegetables, spinach corn mashed potatoes and bbq rum glaze. I didn’t taste this but it did come with a stick indicating it was cooked Well. You can see part of LS’ dish. I believe she ordered the AHI CRUNCH SALAD, seared ahi, mixed greens, asian slaw and crispy wontons tossed in a soy vinaigrette. Her dish was actually okay.

PH ordered the PENNE WITH CHICKEN, crimini mushrooms, asparagus, sun-dried tomatoes tossed in marsala cream sauce. I had a taste and this was actually okay. The sauce was a bit sweet, but edible.

um…. yea…. on the upside, my Beer was pretty ice cold. Cheers!

Despite the pretty whatevers food, if you dare go, reservations are recommended. This place gets crowded.
Parking in the lot at LA Live is $20 or $10…  depending upon what time you get there. I showed up earlier to secure our reservation around 9pm and paid $20. The other car of friends showed up a half hour later and paid $10.
