Honey Pig: Oink oink

Last night, I met some friends at the much hyped-about Honey Pig in Koreatown. Fun times as always.

The background on this place – this is a korean bbq joint opened not too long ago that specializes in pork belly.  For much better reviews of the place, check out the links at the bottom of the page.

Overall, the place is clean (pretty Westernized) and the meat quality was good. We were recommended the “special pork” by our waitress, and it was mMmMmm.

We also had the pork butt, some mushrooms, as well as the prime beef, all very good. To complement the meal, we had some Hite beer and Bek Se ju.

Towards the end, the server came to plop some ingredients and made a decent fried rice with all of the meat grease. mMMmmmm.

Before leaving, they gave all of us these adorable Honey Pig lighters that shoot flames out of their nostrils. =)

Tip: The place is on the corner of Kingsley and 8th Street. Parking can be a bitch to find, but it’s doable. They do have $2 valet if you get inpatient. If the lot is full, they’ll park it somewhere on the street -_-. The area is kind of ghetto. I was told someone was shot dead the night before in the area, and the night we dined, there was a swarm of 20 police cars a block away and a police helicopter circling the neighborhood. But don’t let that scare you. You just may want to leave the Ferrari at home when you visit.
